I believe the law has since changed but dower was still on the books in 1978. I noticed on your website a gift deed from Gilliam Johnson. Do you know the names of any of his children ? I have a Drucilla Johnson married to Lewis Leviner. Their first son is named Isaac Gilliam. I think he may be named for his maternal & paternal grand fathers. Hello Dee, Thanks so much for the compliments. Sorry to say I am just starting this research. I am working from a gedcom of Joan Cardon mentioned the locations of the documents which was really great. We went to Marlboro hoping to uncover more on the Rollo line. I tried to pull all documents on any names that were previously mentioned in other documents in hopes they would provide more clues. Possibly I pulled so many I swamped myself. ;>) I have not really had time to digest all that we collected yet due to transcribing it. I am hoping to get caught up here by next week and then actually sit down and go through it. I did collect some Estate papers on several Johnson's but wasn't able to find the Will Books? The clerk was out of the office most the time we were in there. Maybe sometime in the near future I can catch a ride to Charleston and check their Will Books to see if they have anything.
