Bushy, Abijah Porter was a highly successful planter with properties in old Marion District, in Charleston and in Marlborough District. Because W.W. Sellers in his "History of Marion County" does not devote a section to the PORTER family, I've often wondered if the Porters were more Williamsburg folk. Abijah Porter's Will, dated 1819 and recorded in 1829 In Marion District, is on the Marion County SCGenWeb site. Although I do not see a reference to Robert Porter, you may find it interesting that he names one of his sons James Crawford Porter. Seems to me you have a connection to the Crawfords through the Godbolds? If you haven't already seen it, be sure to take a look at Abijah's wife's Will, Charity Porter, 1846. Not what you asked for, but hope it helps. Cheers, Victoria
