McIntyre Jr., Blakely H. MARION --Graveside services for Col. Blakely H. McIntyre Jr., will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. Col. McIntyre was born in Bennettsville on April 30, 1913, and attended schools in Marion. He served in the military for more than 30 years in the Marine Corps, U.S. Army and South Carolina National Guard. He served overseas during World War II for three years with the Fifth Army and fought in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. After World War II, he continued to serve in the South Carolina National Guard until his retirement in 1967. He was an active farmer and loved spending his vacation time at his home in Murrells Inlet. He was active in Marion Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder. He was also a trustees of the Garden City Chapel. Col. McIntyre was predeceased by his wife, Maree Johnson McIntyre, and is survived by four children, Blakely H. McIntyre III, Larry F. McIntyre, Maree M. Rogers and Linda M. Wright; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family requests that memories be made to Marion Presbyterian Church, P.O.
