DARLINGTON -- Ruth LaMotte Ward, age 90, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the Harborside Nursing Home in Ohio. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 24 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home with interment following in Grove Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Ward was born in Bennettsville, SC, the daughter of the late Enos Orville and Ruth McLaurin LaMotte. She was married to the late Malcolm Booth Ward. Mrs. Ward had retired from the News and Press after more than 40 years of employment. She was a member Trinity United Methodist Church and was an active member of Trinity's Ethel Williamson Circle. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Bennie and Carol Hughes Ward of Sylvania, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Joan Ward and Frank Malcolm (Mack) Stokes of Darlington; grandchildren, Virginia Ruth Ward of Sylvania, OH, James Walter Ward of Auburn Hills, MI, Jonathan LaMotte (Tina) Ward of Toledo, OH, Michael Booth (Norma) Stokes of Woodruff and George Daniel Stokes of Darlington; great-grandchildren, Michelle Stokes Malone and Jared Stokes of Woodruff and Joshua and Jessica Stokes of Darlington; also her great great-grandchild, Cameron Michael Malone of Woodruff.
