I am seeking info on the KNOX and STOGNER line. They lived in the McColl area during the 1920's. Mack Henry Knox was the son of William Brinkley Knox and Elizabeth Lee Knox. Can anyone trace them farther, this is all I have. Maggie Myrtle Stogner (wife of Mack) was the daughter of James and Noville Stogner. Again, this is as far as I can provide. [email protected]
According to "Cemetery Records of Marlboro County, SC" Second edition-- Fletcher's Chapel Cemetery. (From McColl, take Hwy. 381 towards Gibson, NC; 4.8 miles; behind Fletcher's Chapel. W.A. Stogner, s. J.S. and Noville Stogner, b. Aug. 6, 1888; d. Aug. 5, 1889 James, s. of J.S. and Noville Stogner, b. Nov. 19, 1892; d. Dec. 12, 1892 These apparently were children of your James and Novella even though the middle initial is S instead of G. I have found such errors common in this book because of the problem of reading old worn stones. I did not find the parents listed but that isn't to say they aren't, some names didn't make it to the book's index. I will continue to look for you. I hope this helps a little. We are only indirectly related to the Stogner family--inlaws-inlaws kind of thing so I am not researching this family. I do have quite a bit on Marlboro County in general. Be glad to help if I can. I am trying to track info on the Knox family from the McColl area in the 1920's. Mack Henry Knox who died about 1937 was the son on William Brinkley Knox and Elizabeth Lee Knox. Maggie Myrtle Stogner was the daughter of James G Stogner and Novella. James is susposed to be buried around Bennetsville. These are my father-in-laws paernts/grandparents and I have little to go on beyond this info. Bill Facenda
