Thank you, Mark >> Mark I don't know when Marlboro County begin but in a book "The History of Marlboro Co. with traditions and sketchs of numerous families", by Rev J. A. W. Thomas first published in 1897 he tells "about 1750 Nathaniel Spears, a native of England, came to Virginia. While there he married Lidia Wise, and soon came to Carolina and staked down upon the banks of the Three Creeks. ........" I don't have my copy of the book yet so I don't know more specific details about the beginnings of Marlboro Co. Maybe someone else can tell you more. Or when I get my copy (or maybe return to the library to research more) I can tell you more details. I am interested in that county as well. Linda Spears Bussler

    2. OK -- Now that I finished reading all my e-mail, I see that you have Shadrack Fuller in your line. Me, too. But what about the Covingtons. You must be related to : Rev Henry Covington' John Covington James " William " or Simon " They have a great track record that if referenced in the History of Marlboro CO -- but goes all the way back thru NC to Viirginia -- to old Nehemiah Covington, born 1628 in Huntingshire, Eng. 3. FYI "The History of Marlboro County" by Rev. J.A. W. Thomas can be purchased from Heritage Books, Inc Bowie,Md 1-800-398-7709. This is an excellent reference for the Marlboro County Researcher, but one must also understand at the same time that it is a book of recollections, not all of which are entirely accurate. He did an excellent job putting together information from many souces of that era.. but as in the case of my own line "Pearson", he relied upon the recollections of a very senior member of the family who was later demonstrated to be not entirely reliable... I found it to be a truly enjoyable book and continue to use it in my ongoing research..certainly worth being in one's personal library. 3. Who in particular are you related to in the Fuller line. My line of Fullers migrated to Marlboro County after 1865. My great grandfather was Kinchen Fuller and his wife was Loujennie Townsend... There is another line of Fullers descended from the Shadrick Fuller group. Lydia Wise Spears married as her second husband, George Trawick, and apparently had other children by this husband. They moved to Hancock Co., Georgia. I don't know when Lydia died, but when George deeded land to his wife in 1815 in Hancock Co., his wife was named Penny. I can give some additional information regarding George Trawick, if you're interested. > I just was looking through some pages I zeroxed and found on > page 100 chapter > XIV Tradiitions from Col.John Covington."A Chapter of traditions obtained from > Colonel John Covington two months before his death.
