He was married on December 8, 1853 to Julia Jackson. They were born, lived and died in Marlboro County. Their children were: Margaret A. Ammons b. 2-12-1855 John J. Ammons b. 6-1-1857 Jesse B. Ammons b. 7-30-1859 Joseph E. Ammons b. 4-29-1866 Annie J. Ammons b. 6-2-1867 Daniel Thomas Ammons b. 3-17-1868 Henry G. NC no other info on the line except one dau Elizabeth who m. Francis Harper. Elizabeth's line goes back to Francis Graves, son of Capt. Thomas GRAVES of Jamestown. I am trying to unravel the HODGES (HODGE) of Marlboro (Old Cheraw-Long Bluff & Society Hill). Please look up in the books mentioned for HODGES. My John m. Ann STANDARD who was the dau of William Standard, Capt in the Rev War around the area - he was from Edgecombe, NC; his sister Rachel m. Abel WADDELL who died in 1798 Marlboro. My John has been confused with another John of Beaufort NC who m. a Rebecca CHERRY. I also research that line as they are in my son-in-law's ancestry. My John was born in Long Bluff 1755 - his parents: John Hodge and Rebecca of Long Bluff belonged to Welsh Neck Church; his brothers are likely ISHAM, JOSEPH, EDMUND, & RICHARD - his sisters prob. ELIZABETH m. Thomas EVANS, jr. , SARAH m. 1st a MALONE then Jacob BUCKHOLTZ, HANNA m. Joseph DABBS, & LUCY m. Joshua DAVID. Philemon HODGES of Cumberland Co. NC in his pension app states his cousin John Hodges came to his house from Long Bluff and recruited him. "In April 1776 John Hodges my cousin living near Long Bluff, So Ca came to my father's house in No C., a recruiting officer. my brother William, George Draughan & Robert Draughan & myself enlisted & went with him to his father's house in So Ca thence to Nilson's ferry Santee River, about forty miles from Charleston. Below is one of several ADAMS references from my book, OUR NATIVE HEATH - Richmond County North Carolina 1779-1899. Richard Adams left a will in this county in 1782. Good luck in your family search, Myrtle Bridges 1804 - December Session. 2nd Monday. North Carolina, Richmond County Court of Pleas. The Petition of William Adams, John Adams and Toddy Adams, infant heirs of Richard Adams, deceased, by James Pickett Esq., their guardian, sheweth that on or about to 11th day of May last said Richard Adams died leaving issue four children. Patsey, married to Samuel McAdoe, and the aforesaid William, John and Toddy and Delilah, his widow. That administration on the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the said deceased was granted to the said James Pickett. That the said deceased was possessed of a large personal estate to the amount of five hundred pounds or some other large sum. That he was seized or possessed of ten tracts of land in the County to wit; 100 acres on both sides of the Grassy Island Road beginning at a stake ... then round according to the lines of the deceased from Toddy Robinson and General Harrington to the said deceased. The second of 150 acres on Adams Creek beginning at a white oak in John Standley’s line then round according to the courses ... con-taining four acres on the blaze branch conveyed to said Adams by Matthew Dockery.
