In one of Julie Bright's previous emails she refers to Samuel Ferebee and wife Sarah. Is anyone researching the Ferebee family? The daughter of John Townsend and Kizziah Hays (born abt 1772) was named Fereby (Ferebee, Fairbee). It is possible that Kizziah Hays was the granddaughter of Philip and Fereby Clark. Fereby sounds like a family name. Am looking for any clues. Victoria, What kind of contact do you need? I have a copy of the cemetery book for that whole county. Do you need directions (the book gives those) or just a look-up, which I will be glad to do. I have a friend that works at one of the local funeral parlors. Is that the sort of contact you need? I am from that area and have contacts for a lot of things. Let me know what you need and I will see what I can do. Hi Marlboro I have had a number of requests so rather than repeat myself I think it might be best if I posted the list a few at a time. Hope that will be okay. IF your ancestor does not appear on this list that certainly does not mean they were not married in Marlboro County as I am sure this is an imcomplete list. There are just not enough of them for it to be complete. If anyone has a problem with this method please let me know. It will just take a few posts, but I will cease and desist if asked:>) Marriage Licenses, 1788-1826, Marlboro Co., SC By Mrs Henry J. Munnerlyn, Bennetsville, SC Part 1 "Marriages licenses were granted by Court Officials in Marlboro County. There are on file in the Probate Judge's office here a number of old marriages licenses. Can't answer your question, but here ia s 'tidbit' from OUR NATIVE HEATH - Richmond County North Carolina 1779-1899. 1786 October 4. State of South Carolina. Marlborough County. The Examination of Elizabeth Quick taken on oath before me, deposeth on her said oath, that on or about the Month of Feby in the year 1784 her husband, Solomon Quick, sent her to Barnabas Skippers for Abraham Odoms horse and that she went accordingly, and told the said Barnabas that she was come for Abraham Odoms horse that he had. The said Barnabas then asked her where said Odom was, she answered him that he was at her husbands house the last night. He the said Barnabas then said to her tell Mr. Odom to come for his horse himself ... of recovering to bargain and make him satisfaction for his trouble, or put another horse in his room as he was to do according to bargain and so did not deliver her the said horse, and further this deponent sayeth not.
