Larry, I don't know anything about your Joseph Bundy, but I am surely interested. I was a Bundy (before marr.) and have been working on the Bundy line for years. I am sure there are several Bundys who have not been accounted for yet. There were at least two Bundy brothers who came down to Marlboro Co.,SC from the NC area ca. 1830, and both had several sons. I am trying to get it all organized. Will certainly keep you posted if I run across your Joseph and would appreciate the same consideration from you if convenient Joanne Harley [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Larry H. Anyone got a copy of Gregg's History...? I'm trying to find out about a Thomas Ammons, who lived right on the border of Marlboro and Marion. There's apparently mention of both him and his son John on p. 405, and I wonder if anyone can tell me what it says. Bill Gullickson Alexandria VA

Can anyone find a Marriage bond or record Of: Robert Lee JUSTICE born 1893 and Pearl ??? born 1900?? Or does anyone have a 1900 Census report that shows a JUSTICE household? Thank you for your vaulable time and help. Diana
Hi, Does anyone out there have access to the 1880 census of Marlboro Co, SC? If so, could you please see if there is a NOAH FRANKLIN HERNDON ( 6 or 7 years old) on it and if so, who were his parents and brothers and sisters? I am not able to leave my husband at the present time because he is a stroke victim and is not doing well... therefore, a trip to the library is out of the question for now. Thanks, Laura Herndon My EMAIL ADDRESS is: [email protected]
The Charles Bright cemetery outside of Bennettsville is so overgrown it is hard to tell whats there. I would suggest you call Mrs. Frank Goodwin (in B'sville) and get the details from her. I would love to see some of us chip in and get the place cleaned up. The probate judge told me one time that she got more requests for his estate papers than any other in the courthouse. He must have a lot of descendants. The cemetery covers a corner lot, so I really do not know whats in there. I only saw bushes and small trees. I could not penetrate the area it was so thick. I do not know if Elise is still around, but she should be.. Remember the people I told you about that are working on this line also? Gladys Parker, Larry Cates, Calvin Jones........they have all been to the grave site. Check with them. See what they saw.Let me know Joanne H. Joanne I did NOT know that Charles and Mary were buried in Brightsville. That is what I was interested in finding out. So that is great information. Is it a regular cemetery or just a plot of land? Thanks so much. julie
I am looking for info on James Ivey b. 1830 to Isaiah and Patricia (Miles) Ivey - Isaiah later married a Martha and they went on to (Cherokee) AL after 1850. James shows in the 1850 Marlboro census as laborer listed with family of E.Easterling, James also appears in 1860 and 1870 Marlboro census'. The ages shown on the census' don't match up - 1850 @20 yrs. 1860 @ 37 yrs & 1870 @ 48 yrs old, he lost /gained 7 years of age somehow. anyways, he apparently stayed behind in SC and his brother Enoch J. Ivey went on to DeSoto Ms. (Enoch is my GGgrandfather he was 2 yrs younger than James)The other (half?) brothers went on to AL with Isaiah and Martha- they are Robert b. 1834, Enos b. 1845, Travis b. ? apparently born after 1850 bef. 1860 (in AL census) There was also a sister - Ann b. 1828 SC, I know no more about her. Does anyone have anything on James, who stayed behind in SC ?? Did he marry into the Easterling family?? I'm curious why he didn't head west with the rest of the family, just as I am curious why Enoch went, alone, further west than the rest of his family. I'd love to hear from anyone who can make any connections or has info to this James Ivey. Julie, As you probably already know, Charles Bright and his family are buried in the Brightsville area of Marlboro Co.SC. Elise Goodwin, (Mrs. Frank Goodwin) took me to their cemetery years ago. It was so badly overgrown, I couldn't believe it. There are still Brights all over the area. Which ones are you looking for ? I am descended from Charles's daughter, Drucilla, then her dau. Matilda Goodwin, who married Peter Hubbard and their dau. Juliana H. who married Z.T. Pearson, , etc. Joanne Harley [email protected] June 11, l999 -----Original Message----- From: Julie Bright <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Friday, June 11, 1999 12:37 PM Subject: Re: [SCMARLBO-L] Re: Marlboro County cemetery book >Joanne > >Any chance there are any BRIGHTS in the cemetery book? > >julie > > >
"The Marlboro Herald ", the local newspaper, has its business in one of Bennettsville's oldest and largest homes. They use several of the rooms for a gift shop, which is where they sell all historical books written on the area. They had just gotten in a shipment of J.A.W. Thomas's "History of Marllboro County" when I talked to them last week. If you do research on Marlboro Co.,SC, that book is a "must have"! .After twenty years of genealogy, I still use it almost daily.Their phone # is 1-843-4793815, or you can write to them at SHINESS GIFT SHOP, P.O. Box 656, Bennettsville,SC 29512. Ask them about "HISTORY OF THE OLD CHERAWS", by Gregg. That is another good one to have.
