MULLINS — Magaline Gause Herndon, age 83, of Mullins died Monday, August 25, 2008 at Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Mrs. Herndon was born in Columbus County, a daughter of the late George Memory Gause and Vernia Edwards. Mrs. Herndon was a member of the Marion-Mullins Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Herndon and a daughter, Betty Jo Hiatt. Surviving are sons, Walter Ray Prince of Marion and George Franklin Prince (Martha) of Olanta; daughters, Ann Collins (William) and Brenda Strickland, both of Mullins; sisters, Eva Grooms of Hamlet, N.C. and Mazie Ellis, of Fair Bluff, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Meares Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Olanta, S.C.
