DILLON — Doris Floyd Mayers, 91, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 22, 2008, at Pines Nursing Home after an extended illness. Visitation will be at Cooper Funeral Home from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday followed by graveside services at Greenlawn Cemetery at 4 p.m. Mrs. Mayers, the former Doris Floyd of Mullins, was the daughter of the late Lamar and Willie Moody Floyd of Mullins. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. A good neighbor, she was diligent in helping those who were in need. She was an avid reader and a prolific writer. Among her favorite writings was Take Time. Take time to think — it is the source of power. Take time to play — it is the secret of perpetual youth. Take time to read — it is the fountain of wisdom. Take time to pray — it is the greatest power on earth. Take time to love and be loved — it is a God given privilege. Take time to be a friend — it is the road to happiness. She walked in the path that Jesus trod, and never once dodged her duty but was brave and put her trust in God. Survivors include her brother-in-law, Arthur L. Quick of Dillon; one niece, Debbie (Ray) Rogers of Dillon; six nephews, Artie (Lynne) Quick, Art Quick, Tray (Carla) Rogers all of Dillon, and Rocky (Kathryn) Floyd of Aynor, and Jackie Floyd of Mullins. **************It's only a deal if it's where you want to go.
