Mr. David O. Stroud, age 97, widower of the late Mrs. Mable Olean Smith Stroud, of Hanahan, SC, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Thursday, July 03, 2008 at a local nursing facility. Friends and family of Mr. David Stroud are invited to attend his funeral service on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 2:00 pm at CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park. A visitation will be held this evening, Saturday, July 5, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Mr. David Oneal Stroud was born on December 13, 1910 in Nichols, SC to the late David N. Stroud and the late Lillie Jane Causey Stroud. He was a supervisor for VC Chemical for over 16 years and a long time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Marie Stroud Godin, and her husband Jerry, of Hanahan; three sons, Carlisle Stroud, and his wife Barbara, of Summerville, Earl Stroud of Bonneau, SC, and Wayne Stroud of Lake Hartwell, SC; two sisters, Elsie Harrelson of Mullins, SC and Daphine Willoughby of Nichols, SC; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted at the funeral home or memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Stroud's memory to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3595 Ashley Phosphate Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
