I live in VA but have roots in Marion/Dillon and was wondering if there are any Spivey DNA studies that I haven't seen or heard about. I have talked my cousin, a direct male Spivey line, into sending a sample to Sorenson Labs who do a free DNA if you submit a 3-4 generation pedigree. They don't send you results but post the results into their database which takes 6 months or more and it's searchable on their website. My Spivey line go back to Wingate, Isaac and Matthew which straddle the SC/NC line mostly in present day Dillon Co, Robeson Co and Columbus Co. I know there are a lot of Spiveys in that area and DNA might help indicate a link that's not yet documented, a lot of them may be related thru Edmond Spivey and back to George Spivey who migrated to VA in the early days of our country.
