Hi List, I meant to send this earlier but with my uncle Julian Ottis Brown passing away April 14, 2006 (was posted here), then my dad Conard Leonard Vestal died June 8th, 2006, and Freddie on May 24, 2006 it slipped my mind. My dad was born in Yadkin Co., NC but my mom, Elizabeth Nell Brown Vestal, is from Marion Co., SC Barbara Submitters note: Jake "Freddie" was born July 17, 1933 Marion Co., SC. Brown, Jake Frederick Mr. Jake Frederick Brown, 72, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center. Jake was born in Marion County, S.C., to the late Jake and Rosa Brown. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Robert Brown. Jake was of the Baptist faith, was an avid gardener and loved fishing. He retired from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (Engineering). He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jacqueline Smothers Brown, of the home; a son, Marshall Brown, and wife Cindy of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Kim Brown-Salazar, and husband Scott of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four grandchildren, Joel Pack and wife Tracy of Yadkinville, Jeremy Edwards of Myrtle Beach and Elizabeth Brown and Wesley Brown, both of Winston-Salem; seven siblings, Ethel Mills and husband Webb of Georgetown, S.C.; Paul Brown and wife Betty of Charleston, S.C.; Lewis Brown and wife Jane of Mullins, S.C.; Willie Brown and wife Ellen, Donnie Brown and wife Margaret, Terry Br own and wife Debbie and Jake Brown and wife Ann, all of Marion, S.C.; and numerous friends and neighbors. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at Forsyth Memorial Park, with the Rev. Richard Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 26, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Forsyth Regional Cancer Center and the ninth floor staff of Forsyth Medical Center for the loving care they gave to Jake.
