    2. MULLINS — Mrs. Lola Cifers Thompkins, 97, widow of John F. Thompkins, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ricky Day officiating. Burial will follow in Bayboro Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Mrs. Thompkins was born January 6, 1909, in Bullocks, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Amos and Mamie Chronster Cifers. She was a homemaker and had worked for Mullins Textiles for 20 years. Surviving Mrs. Thompkins are a daughter, Hazel Asbury and her husband Calvin of Mullins; seven grandchildren, Libby Perritt of Mullins, Johnny Ray Thompkins of Marion, Paul Edward Thompkins of Memphis, TN, Allen Thompkins of Nashville, TN, Lisa Arnel of Myrtle Beach, Ricky Thompkins of Conway and Susie Steadman of Kingstree; seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thompkins was predeceased by three sons, Paul E. Thompkins, Buddy Thompkins and Johnny Thompkins and a grandson, Brian Carter. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 til 9 p.m. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
