GEORGETOWN | Robert Pace Schofield Jr., 98, died Sunday, June 4, 2006 at his home in Hasty Point Plantation in Plantersville, Georgetown County. Born Oct. 25, 1907 in Dillon, he was the son of the late Robert Pace Schofield Sr. and Ivey Marshall Stikeleather. He was a business person in Florence for most of his life and engaged in numerous enterprises including hardware, electric wire, knitting and medical care. He imported goods and distributed them around the country, traveling extensively around the world in search of honorable trade between nations. He was a president of the Rotary Club in Florence, a founding investor of Peoples Federal Savings & Loan in Florence and Plantation Federal Financial in Pawleys Island; he served on the board of directors of both those institutions for many years. He ran Schofield Hardware in Florence for 40 years and was a founding investor in Schofield Hardware in Georgetown and in Pee Dee Hardware in Johnsonville. He also served on the board of Tara Hall. He was married to the former Jesse Mary Finklea of Pamplico and after her death, he married Mildred Salmon McDonald. Survivors include his wife; his brother, Charles Stikeleather Schofield; his daughter, Harriet Ivey Schofield Bryant; his son, Robert Pace Schofield III; two grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Bryant Noojin and Robert Scott Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Ivey Elizabeth Noojin and Frank Kenneth Noojin IV; and several stepchildren. He was an elder of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church and a memorial service will be held there on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall following the memorial service.
