I'm sure MOST of you are familiar with the long-standing story about how the Sweeney man changed his name to Henegan. "HISTORY OF THE OLD CHERAWS" by the Rt. Rev. Alexander Gregg, page 91, states the first of his family was a James Sweeney, and no one seems to know why the name was changed. This book puts them first in the Marion Dist, then in the Marlborough Dist. Well, reading an online NC Will Abstract book tonight, I ran across this tidbit.
