NICHOLS — Hagood Bonnie Martin, 68, husband of Glenda Perry Martin, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at his home after an extended illness. He was born May 16, 1940 in Marion County, a son of the late Lonnie George Martin and the late Nina Mae Atkinson Martin. Mr. Martin retired from the US Army as a Sergeant First Class, having served in the Viet Nam War. Surviving Mr. Martin in addition to his Wife of the home are: a Daughter: Caroline Martin Willard and her husband Gary of Yadkinville, N.C.; 2 Sons: Gregory Martin Damron and his wife Crystal Elliott Damron of Pleasant View and Hagood Dwayne Martin of Nichols; a Special Nephew, Jordan Cantrell and a Special Daughter Carolyn Perry of Hellier, Ky.; his Grandchildren: McKenzie Willard, Ethan Gregory Damron, Austin Keith Damron and Edwin Vance Damron; 3 Brothers: L.G. Martin of Florence, Donald Martin of Hawaii and Joe Martin of Bucksport; 3 Sisters: Sarah Martin of Goose Creek, Vashti Gohen of Lakeland. Fla. and Emmy Martin of Florence; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Martin was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Micki Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, April 1 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Glenn Brown and Rev. Glen Carter officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at the Florence National Cemetery.
