MARION — William Billy Alford, 52, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at his home after an illness. He was born November 25, 1956 in Sumter, a son of Faye Stewart Alford and the late William Alford. Billy was a lifelong resident of Knife Island in Marion County, where he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved everything pertaining to the outdoors.He was also an avid NASCAR fan. Billy was a graduate of Marion High School. Surviving Billy are: his Mother: Faye Stewart Alford of Surfside Beach; his Fiance: Cyndi Thomas of Galivants Ferry; 2 Brothers: Jerry Alford and his wife Sharon of Orlando, Florida and Chip Alford and his wife Lynne of Surfside Beach; a Sister: Kay Brown of Myrtle Beach; 4 Nephews; 2 Grand Nephews; 3 Grand Nieces; a Special Friend: Steve Rimer of Mullins; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Graveside memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 22 in Smith Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins. The family requests that those attending the services wear casual attire to honor Billys request. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.
