MARION — Mr. Marvin Wightman “Cindy” Davis III died Tuesday, April 4, 2006. He was a resident of Commander Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe N. Long officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson’s Funeral Home. He was born September 9, 1929, in Marion, a son of the late Marvin W. “Cindy” Davis II and Hazel Bedingfield Davis. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Gibson Davis. Mr. Davis was a former sales manager with Heritage Sportswear and a (retired) member of the U.S.A.N.G. and the American Legion. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church and Dusty Hills Country Club. Mr. Davis was a graduate of Marion High School and attended Boston College. Surviving are a son, Marvin W. Davis IV and his wife, Sara, of Blythewood, SC; a daughter, Mary D. Hammonds and her husband, Mark, of Chadbourn, NC; four brothers, Walter B. Davis (Ellen) of Marion, SC, Joe Davis of Surfside Beach, SC, Harold Guy Davis (Mary Grace) of Little River, SC, and Thaddeus Sabb Davis of Surfside Beach, SC; one sister, Mary Orpah Becker (Alfie) of Surfside Beach, SC; and five grandchildren, Zach Cox, Morgan Davis, Morgan Cox, Courtney Hammonds and Sarah Hammonds.
