MULLINS — Mr. James Burgess, 86, died Friday, April 14, 2006, in McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, in Cedardale Cemetery. The services will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Mr. Burgess was born February 11, 2006, in Jonesville, S.C., a son of the late George and Ella Burgess Stone. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in Chicago, Illinois, after 34 years of service. Mr. Burgess served as a corporal with the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of the VFW. Surviving Mr. Burgess are a niece, Carolyn Bullard of Mullins; a nephew, Joe D. “Buddy” Rogers Jr. of Mullins, and several other nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Visitation will be held Monday morning from 10 until 11 a.m. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
