MULLINS — Mrs. Lucy Elizabeth Rogers Tucker, “Betty Blue,” 72, widow of Oliver Glen Tucker, Sr., after suffering a long illness, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2006. Daughter of Mildred Wiggins Meares, the granddaughter of Annabelle and Pearly Wiggins of Mullins, she was born August 4, 1933, in Mullins. She graduated from Mullins High School in 1952, where she captained the State Championship Girls Basketball Team. Owner of Betty’s Flowers and a member of Mullins Presbyterian Church, she was actively involved in the VFW Auxillary, Manna House Ministries, Mullins Clothes Closet and various local churches. Survivors include: her children, Oliver Glen Tucker, Jr. and his wife Dale of Florence and their children, Oliver Glen “Troy” Tucker, III and Dresden Elizabeth; Katherine Elizabeth Tucker Ganey and her husband Rev. George Francis Ganey, III (pastor of Smyrna Presbyterian Church) of Smyrna, Ga. and their children, Ashley Elizabeth, Lesley Susanna and Caroline Grace; and Stephen Craig Tucker of the home and his children, Joshua Steven, Jacob Corben and Haley Alexa and their mother, Melia Berry; a sister, Jean W. Cox of Augusta, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. James D. (Tanya) Tucker of Mullins. The Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Mullins Presbyterian Church, 809 Sandy Bluff Road, Mullins. Interment will follow in Cedardale Cemetery, North Main St., Mullins, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. VFW Post #6122 and Auxiliary and the Mullins High School Class of ‘52 will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 til 8 p.m. at Mullins Presbyterian Church.
