MARION — Mrs. Helen Byrd Prevatte, 70, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, in McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, at Richardson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, April 17, 2006, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Prevatte was born a daughter of the late Wiley Benjamin Byrd and Kizzie Elizabeth Byrd. She is also predeceased by her husband, Howard Stanley Prevatte; a brother, Wiley “Buddy” Byrd, Jr.; and sisters, Aileen Rew Powers and Mary Williamson. She had worked at Southern Bell and Dollar General. Mrs. Prevatte was a graduate of Latta High School and a Baptist by faith. Mrs. Prevatte is survived by a sister, Ruby Webster of Florence, and a special nephew, Billy Powers of Coward, SC.
