    1. Re: [SCMARION-L] Moody's Mill Pond Cemetery
    2. This report is from my friend Jo Dickerson. I had not been by since the construction this is what Jo had to say about the cemetery. The cemetery at Moody's Mill on Hwy 501 is still there. The tombstones were not disturbed by the construction. The historical marker is still there. The bank of the hill that faced on the highway is gone - sheared off - and the highway now runs where the front part of the hill or bank used to be. The trees that stood sentinel between the cemetery and the old highway are gone. The old stone markers in the cemetery are now highly visible from the highway. The circular pull-off where you could stop and park and walk up to the cemetery is gone. I didn't see any way to get up to the cemetery short of stopping in the middle of this busy highway, but there may be a way via some side road I didn't see. The site is certainly no longer what it was. The highway crosses the millpond immediately north of and adjacent to the cemetery. The millpond is now much more identifiable than it was before the construction. Not sure that is a good thing, but it is how it is. I was hoping that a local could tell me if they have destroyed (or moved) this cemetery.
