    3. DURHAM - Elizabeth (Lib) Tindall Lambert, 78, went to be with the Lord Friday night at Duke University Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lanny, of Durham; a son, Lanny Jr., and wife, Nancy, of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Martha Baker, and husband, Jim, of Durham; grandchildren, Grayson, Bryant and Caroline Lambert, and Will, Jim and Shawn Baker; a great-grandson, Trey Baker; and a brother, Sidney Tindall and his wife, Rita, of Ocean City, Md. Lib was born on December 6, 1927, in Marion County, S.C. She was valedictorian of her high school class and attended Lander College. After her marriage in 1948, she settled in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where she was an active member of First United Methodist Church and worked for many years as a bookkeeper for G.W. Trask & Sons and Crystal Ice Company. Upon moving with her family to Durham in 1970, she worked in various accounting firms and the finance division of UNC-CH. She also joined Epworth United Methodist Church where, for her 36 years, she served on numerous committees and was a member of the Martha Society, Lay Shepherds, Prayer Group, the Susanna Circle of the United Methodist Women and the International Sunday School Class. Lib has also served on the Croasdaile Retirement Community Local Committee. Lib was instrumental in organizing the Graduate Program for Pulmonary Rehabilitation at the Center for Living at Duke University which she attended for many years. Members of this group as well as friends and neighbors were very familiar with Lib's generous assistance in times of need. She will be greatly missed in all circles of her life as she served others and God. A memorial service will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 23, 2006, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Gene Cobb and the Rev. Bess Hunnings will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either the Martha Society or the General Endowment Fund of Epworth United Methodist Church, 3002 Hope Valley Road, Durham, NC 27707.
