    1. [SCMARION] Roberts in Marion
    2. Deryl
    3. The first Roberts to my knowledge in Marion District was David Roberts who received a land grant in the late 1750's and purchased other land adjacent to the early Brittons in old Brittons Neck (present day Woodberry TS). That is not far from the Sweets and the Keenes. Moses Britton in his will (1770's) left a legacy to Mary Roberts and I have no clue who she might be. If either of these 2 Roberts figures in someone's genealogy, I would appreciate hearing from you.

    3. I think there were several different Roberts families in the Marion area back then. I came across my Roberts family almost by accident, when I found a Roberts genealogy that mentioned the letter giving Anthony Sweet and his wife Martha guardianship of Abraham Roberts II, who was her brother. He and Anthony served together under Capt McCants during the Cherokee Expedition, Abraham must have been a young teenager at the time. I do find a Mary Roberts in this genealogy, b 1717, married John Boughton. She was Abraham I's sister. There is a David as well but he is in a later generation. Abraham II went out to Amite Co MS in 1809, lots of Robertses out there who are descended from the Marion Co Roberts family.
