MULLINS — Mr. Lonnie Dolphus Alford, age 84, died Monday, September 18, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. He was a son of the late Howard and Claudia Bell Martin Alford and a member of Mullins First Baptist Church. Mr. Alford was preceded in death by a grandson, Rick Pope, and five brothers, Tracy, Lacy, Leverne, Lenneau and Armstrong Alford. Mr. Alford is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Gertrude Roberts Alford; one son, Lonnie Chandis Alford and his wife, Barbara Ann, of Chesapeake, Virginia; four daughters, Wanda D. Poindexter and her husband, Scott, of Timmonsville, Heide A. Johnson and her husband, Worth, of Pawleys Island, Rhonda A. Glancy and her husband, Tim, of Myrtle Beach, Kim Singleton and her husband, Perry, of Conway; one sister, Dorothy Jane Rabon and her husband, Toler, of Aynor; nine grandchildren, Lonnie Pope, Julia Griffin, Kylee Harrelson, Kyra Spivey, Brooke Cooper, Jason Johnson, Hanna Singleton, John Perry Single ton and Chandler Alford; eight great-grandchildren, Austin Pope, Shauna Tolbert, Paul Griffin, Kinley Cooper, Briar, Sealey and Jessley Spivey and Dylan Lowrimore. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Meares Funeral Home. Funeral will be Wednesday, September 20, at 11 a.m. at Mullins First Baptist Church.
