MULLINS — Mr. George C. Gainey, 73, died Monday, September 4, 2006, in St. Francis Hospital in Charleston. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, at the chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home with Dr. David Bult officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Mr. Gainey was born November 28, 1932, in Marion County, a son of the late Benjamin and Mary Evelyn Hargrove Gainey. He was a retired electrician and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Gainey was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Gainey are his sisters and brother, Frances Dora Garner and her husband, William Thomas, of Ridgeway, Mitchell A. Gainey and his wife, Donna, of Union and Marilyn L. Morgan and her husband, J.W., of Mullins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Hope Baptist Church, c/o Dr. David Bult, 609 Green Acres, Mullins, SC 29574. Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon from 1 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
