My maternal surnames are: CLEMONS (Robeson, Dillon, Marion, Horry): Samuel CLEMONS moved from Wake County to the border area of Robeson/Dillon (old Marion) around 1855. He was killed at the battle of Battery Wagner July 18, 1863. His wife was Grizzie Ann DANIEL, d.o. Thomas DANIEL and Mary SHIPP from Wake County. Samuel's children were: John Wesley CLEMONS (married Christian Eleanor (Nolie) MILLS); Mary Jane CLEMONS (married Alexander HORN); Henrietta CLEMONS (married John HUGGINS); and Samuel Henry CLEMONS (married Nora McCarthy HAYES). Grizzie Ann married Stephen Bright STANLEY after the death of Samuel. They had a farm near Lake View. After Stephen died, she married a HILL. Grizzie Ann is buried next to Stephen STANLEY at Bear Swamp Baptist Cemetery near Lake View. The wife of John Wesley CLEMONS was Christian MILLS. Her father, William MILLS, was probably from the Marion County area but was a blacksmith near the Robeson/old Marion County border around 1850. William Mills died in the war. The MILLS family lived near the OLIVERS in Robeson County. Thomas DANIEL also moved from Wake County to the Robeson/Marion area before he was killed in the war. His wife, Mary, died in or near Mullins. His son, William Henry DANIEL founded WH Daniel Supply and the Daniel Warehouse in Mullins. Another son, Leroy, was a merchant in Nichols and had a daughter that married A.B. NICHOLS. My wife's surnames are: COLLINS (Susan Charlotte b. 1859 near Mars Bluff, daughter of Charles COLLINS and Pricilla Ann LANGSTON); and EAGERTON (Charles Collins was the son of William COLLINS and Dorothy EAGERTON). These families were living near Mars Bluff, Jeffries Twp, in the late 1800s. My paternal surnames are: JOHNSON/JOHNSTON (Galivants Ferry/Lake Swamp area of Horry); MILLER (William Edwin MILLER, born 1813 near Wilmington, NC, taught school in Marion County in the mid-1850s. He married Caterine BROWN, d.o. Richard Brown, then Rachael Susan PORTER, d.o. James Crawford PORTER and Hapsey LANE); BLACKMON (Dillon Co. and Horry Co.); and CRAWFORD (David CRAWFORD, Galivants Ferry and I suspect Marion County). JJohnson Kingwood TX
