    3. Jo Anne G. Simmons Jo Anne Galloway Simmons, 63, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at home after an illness. She was born in the Mars Bluff section of Florence County, a daughter of the late Joseph C. Galloway and Annie Sue Smith Galloway. She moved to Pawleys Island from Columbia in 1997 after retiring from the Federal Government Office of Hearings and Appeals as a hearing assistant. She was a member of St. Pauls Waccamaw United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with Hospice of Georgetown County. Survivors include her loving husband of 44 years, James "Jim" R. Simmons of Pawleys Island; a daughter, Julie Simmons DuMont of Pawleys Island; a son, Dr. James R. Simmons Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Ruston, La.; a brother, Jack Galloway of Atlanta; a sister Rhoda McElveen of Orange Park, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Courtenay Simmons and Cord Simmons, both of Ruston. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pauls, Waccamaw, United Methodist Church in Litchfield. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Revs. Milton L. McGuirt and John D. Williams will officiate. Entombment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Columbia. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Georgetown County, 2591 N. Fraser St., Georgetown, SC 29440. Mayer Funeral Home, Georgetown Chapel is in charge.
