Evelyn Wheeler DILLON -- Services for Evelyn Pyle Wheeler will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2001, at First Presbyterian Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery directed by Kannaday's Funeral Home of Dillon. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Harrison St., Dillon, SC 29536. Mrs. Wheeler Monday, October 29, 2001, in St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Charleston. Born April 3, 1923, in DuQuoin, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Harley and Esther Miller Pyle. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Dr. William W. Wheeler. After graduation from Pinckneyville High School in Illinois and Pembroke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and the University of South Carolina with a Master of Arts in Education, Mrs. Wheeler worked with the Department of Social Services as a social worker. During her lifetime she was active in various civic and community organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary, the Pilot Club of Dillon and Yellow Jessamine Garden Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dillon where she was also a member of the Ladies Circle. Surviving are her son, Wayne and wife Frankie of Columbia; daughter Elaine and husband Alan Sanner of Charleston; daughter, Linda and husband Ronald Chambers of Marco Island, Fla.; granddaughters, Beth Luther, Amy (Mrs. Scott Wilford); three great grandchildren, all of Pennsylvania.
