Nov 9, 2001 Francis D. Smith MULLINS -- Mr. Francis D. Smith, 72, of Mullins died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001 at Marion County Medical Center. Mr. Smith was born in Marion County and was the son of the late Thomas Coke Sr. and Annie Ree Morgan Smith. He also was owner and operator of Smith Grocery and a member of Mullins Presbyterian Church. Mr. Smith also retired from the Army National Guard. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at Mullins Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jason Brewer and the Rev. George Gainey officiating. Entombment will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Meares Funeral Home. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Smith of the home; two daughters, Susan S. Crotts of Mullins and Ree Smith of Lexington; two brothers, Thomas Coke Smith Jr. of Mullins and Charles L. Smith of Hartsville; a sister, Ann S. Wills of Greenwood; five grandchildren, David, John and Lee Crotts, all of Mullins, and Taylor and Austin Smith, both of Lexington. Mr. Smith was predeceased by a brother, George W. Smith.
