Sandy, I'm looking at the 1850 census of Robeson Co NC --Southern Dist.as follows: Nathaniel Spivey age 48 M b. in S Carolina Jane 47 F S C Samuel 14 M Robeson Co NC Zilpha 19 F R C NC Nathaniel 7 M R C NC Edmond 4 M R C NC I've noticed that many of the Spiveys are listed like Nathaniel as being born in S Carolina and the children being born in NC, Matthew , father of Isaac, is like that . I don't know what it all means but I hope one day we can explain it . Robeson County, NC borders South Carolina. There was a lot of movement back and forth and the border itself was in dispute for some time. Some properties were in both states, even after the border was finally established.
