Bernice L. James LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Bernice Lane James, 87, of 506 W. 23rd St., died Friday in Britthaven of Guilford in Greensboro. Mrs. James was a bookkeeper for M&J Gas Co. for several years and a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Gardens of Faith Mausoleum by the Rev. Joe Bounds. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory of Lumberton. Mrs. James is survived by a son, Don R. James of Lumberton; five grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. note from personal data: Bernice: Marion County native was the dau of late Sampson Elmore and Roma Campbell Lane, Marion County, S.C. and widow of Dick James.
