The State (Columbia): Sunday, July 8, 2001 Stephen Miles III MARION (--) Funeral services for Stephen Godbold Miles III, 71, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2001, at the Chapel of Smith-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 307 E. Godbold St., Marion, SC 29571. Mr. Miles, husband of Betty Brown Miles, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. Born December 3, 1929 in Marion County, he was a son of the late Stephen Godbold Miles II and Nell Tumblin Miles. Mr. Miles was a retired Postmaster with the US Postal service. He was a former member of the Marion Lion's Club, and past president of the Lion's Club. Mr. Miles was a member of the Men's Breakfast Club. He was a graduate of Carlysle Military School. Mr. Miles was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marion, where he was a former member of the Lem Winesett Sunday School Class. Surviving Mr. Miles in addition to his wife of the home are a son, Stephen Godbold "Pete" Miles IV and his wife, Cleesie, of Divide, Colo.; daughter, Jane Miles Snowden and her husband, Stewart, of Marion; and grandchildren, Mary Hannah Miles and Charles Stephen Miles. Mr. Miles was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Nell Tuten.
