The State (Columbia): Friday, July 20, 2001 Bertha Gerrald GALIVANTS FERRY (--) Services for Bertha Gerrald Phipps Gerrald, 70, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Rehoboth United Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins. Visitation is from 7-9 this evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Gerrald, widow of Ronnie Gerrald, died Thursday, July 19, 2001 at her residence after an illness. Born in Horry County, December 8, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Kurt Gerrald and Janie Worley Gerrald. She was a retired farmer and a retired textile seamstress. Mrs. Gerrald was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and was first married to the late Brice Phipps. Surviving are sons and daughter-in-law, M.L. "Red" and Penny Phipps of Columbia, Harold Phipps of Nichols and Frank Phipps of North Myrtle Beach; daughter and son-in-law, Jo-Ann P. Pierce and Bob Pierce of Florence; brother, Robert Gerrald of Columbia; half brother, Henry Allen of Conway; half sisters, Shelby Hardee, Geneva Edge and Linda Skipper, all of Conway, Betty Filyaw of Lake City and Hattie Prochaska of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Lloyd Phipps, Brice Bryant, Rhonda Bryant and Sonya Bryant; great-grandchild, Madison Bryant. Mrs. Gerrald was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Gerrald.
