Hello listers, I am just now starting to actively search for my Watson ancestors. To start with I am looking for a Gilbert Watson who was born circa 1797 in NC I believe (I could be wrong!), but who married a Nancy PROCTOR on May 21, 1820 in Little Rock, Marion Co, SC. They had these children (that I know of...and I could have some wrong): 1) Elizabeth (or Sarah Elizabeth) Watson: b. 1829 - d. 1926. Married an Austin Bradley on March 16, 1850. As of 1915 she was living in Mobile, AL (mentioned in her brother Andrew Jackson Watson's obituary) 2) Mary Ann Watson b. 7/18/1829. Dead by 1915. 3) Rhoda Ann Watson b. approx 1844? married a David W. Norvell/Norwell on March 9, 1868 in Butler Co, AL She was still alive in 1915 and living in Atlanta, GA 4) Andrew Jackson Watson (my great-great-grandfather): b 1835. d: Oct. 29, 1915. married soon after the Civil War to Mary Mapes (he was her 2nd husband), and moved with family to Butler Co, AL. 5) Willoby (W.R......I think this is him) Watson b. 1823 married Elizabeth Campbell on Dec 24, 1844 in Pike Co, AL. He eventually moved to Butler Co, AL too. In 1915 he was in River Falls (if this is W.V. Watson) I have a little further information on Willoby's descendents, and of course Andrew Jacksons. But this is all I have of this generation and I don't have any idea about Gilbert's parentage. Or Nancy's either. Any of this sound familiar? I'd love to hear from anyone to whom this seems familiar.
