Winkie, I have been doing genealogy for over twenty years, off and on, but it has been a lot more fun doing it with others since I have been on the computer. Over the years, attending workshops, etc. I have found out about books that offer so much to those of us who cannot always spend the time researching in the courthouses of our ancestors. One of my first purchases was "ANCESTRAL KEY TO THE PEE DEE", by a former librarian named Mary Belle Manning Bethea who lived and worked in Latta. One of the best things about the book is the Surname roster which list not only marriages, but children and in-laws as well. It also lists sources where more information can be found on each person. Since you are interested in so many of the families of this area, you might enjoy owning your own copy of this book. It is full of Betheas. I cannot tell you how often I have had to refer to it. I have no idea where you can get a copy, but someone on this list may be able to help you. There are plenty of bookstores around selling old copies of these books as well. I would like to get a copy of the "THE HISTORY OF DILLON CO." by Durward T. Stokes, and need to check out some of my sources unless someone on this list knows for sure where I might be able to find a copy. Thanks. Joanne H. New Bern,NC harleyclan@coastalnet.com
