The State (Columbia): Friday, June 29, 2001 Julius Mace Jr. PALATKA, Fla. (--)Services for Julius L. Mace Jr., 78, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with burial in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lexington. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Breadholt and Rev. Ronald Beard. The family will receive friends at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Sallie and Robert "Bob" Oswald, 201 Georgia Lane, Lexington. Memorials may be made to the Carolina Children's Home, 3201 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29204. Mr. Mace died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville after a long illness. The Centenary, S.C. native lived in Palatka, Fla. for the past two years, coming from Columbia. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia and had retired after 40 years as a repairman with BellSouth. He was an avid quail hunter and loved Clemson University, being a member of IPTAY and attending many of the football games. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Turner Mace. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Julius L. Mace III and wife Elizabeth Tuttle Mace, Harry R. Schiffley and wife Tommie Nagy Schiffley, all of Palatka; daughter and son-in-law, Sallie Mace Oswald and husband Robert "Bob" Oswald of Lexington; sister, Betty Lou Mace Skinner of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughters, Stephanie Mace Oswald, Rachael Wingard Oswald both of Lexington, Aeron Elizabeth Mace, Morgan Leigh Mace, Bragan Rebecca Mace, Harriett Schiffley Strange, all of Palatka; a great granddaughter; a great grandson.
