LORIS John D. Currie John D. Currie, 74, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Loris Community Hospital after an illness. He was born April 1, 1927, in Mullins, a son of the late Don Currie and Louise Haselden Currie. He was the husband of Emma Small Currie. He attended the University of South Carolina and Bowling Green University. He was a farmer and retired from the Postal Service. He was a member of Loris First United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Donna Currie Carroll of Columbia; a son, John Dudley Currie Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Carson David Carroll and Keenan John Carroll, both of Columbia. Visitation was Thursday at Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Loris First United Methodist Church. The Revs. David Bauknight and James Shelley will officiate.
