    3. Another land mark gone---Mr.James Porter died at his residence; nov.4,1878, in the 72nd year of his age, he was one of the most inoffensive men I ever knew, always at his post of duty when his country called. Served in the Indian war in Florida, he joined the Methodist church South South in 1858,in which he lived until his death. A few hours before he breathed his last he told his family and friends all was well, and "no cloud was between him and his love of God." He leaves a large family and one sister, who is a devoted Christian, with a large train of relatives and friends to morn their loss, which is his eternal gain.(E.J.M.) Source: William E. Miller Bible...the above obit received via e-mail to me from transcriber. I do not know what was meant by the "Methodist Church South South" reference. I'll know more when I get an actual copy of this Bible record. JJohnson
