Hello List, I would appreciate any help that can be provided on any of the names below and I will be glad to share info. I checked the Cedardale Cemetery on this cemetery site with no luck on the Proctor name. Does anyone have a listing or a book that covers that cemetery? I am looking for my great grandparents Marion Watts Proctor and Amanda "Mandie" Victoria (Shuler) Proctor, both are buried there. I am not sure how her name is listed on the tombstone, it may just be Mandie Proctor. Marion Watts Proctor was born October 05, 1852, in Marion, Marion Country, South Carolina, son of Thomas Asbury Proctor and Emaline Campbell. He died in Marion County, South Carolina. The Reverend Simeon Campbell recorded Marion's death in his Diary on 5 May 1908. Their daughter Tommie, my grandmother, was born July 25, 1898. She said she was 12 years old when her father died. I don't know if she meant at his death of just after his death when she turned 12 in July. That could make it around 1910 if after. I need to verify which death date is correct. "A History Of Marion County, South Carolina" by W. W. Sellers, Esq., Pg. 488: "Of the sons of Thomas A. Proctor, Marion, the oldest married a Miss Shuler of Orangeburg County, and has a large family; don't know their names." Amanda "Mandie" Victoria (Shuler) Proctor born 1856 or 1857 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina, parents are unknown, father might be John Shuler b. abt. 1822. She died December 22, 1934, in Marion County, South Carolina. I need her birth date and to verify if death date is correct. Amanda married Marion Watts Proctor August 20, 1874, in Orangeburg District, South Carolina (Source: SC Baptist Newspaper, Married by Rev. D. W. Cuttino at the residence of the bride's father). For the Rogers researchers: Marion and "Mandie" had two boys and six girls. Five of the girls married Rogers, two were brothers, Quince Camer Rogers and Sydnie Rogers. I have the other Roger names if anyone is interested. The only one to not marry a Rogers was my grandmother, Tommie Eleanor Proctor, (she has be mistaken for a male on the census reports by others because it was listed as Tommie E.) She married Rufus Rudolph Brown, son of William Kelly Brown and Georgeanna Barnhill, Horry Co., South Carolina. All ten of Rufus and Tommie Brown's children were born in Marion, including my mother. Thanks in advance to all that can help. I definitely have more questions. I look forward to hearing from you. Barbara Vestal Byrd
