    2. RAINS | Mrs. Ellen Christine Thomas Dozier, 90, wife of the late Edwin Holmes Dozier, died Monday, September 1, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Dozier was born Mary 26, 1918 in Marion County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Samuel Burns Thomas and the late Laomo Ruth Sineath Thomas. She served as Postmaster of Rains Post Office for many years. Mrs. Dozier was the pianist for the State and National Postmasters Conventions. She as a member of the Swamp Fox Follies, where she was the pianist and she performed with a special friend of many years, Roy Haymond, as a duo known as ''The Sentimentalists.'' Mrs. Dozier was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church. Surviving Mrs. Dozier are two daughters, June Dozier Fowler and her husband, John Haymond, of Rains, and Patricia Dozier Kirkley and her husband, Jim, of Gresham; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Patricia S. Dozier of Surfside Beach; and a sister-in-law, Lois M. Thomas of Rains. Mrs. Dozier was predeceased by three sons, Lebby Holmes Dozier, Lawrence Burns Dozier, and Jackie Dozier; and three brothers, Cecil Webb Thomas, Samuel Tyson Thomas and Henry Bristow Thomas. Graveside services will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008 in Reedy Creek Cemetery, with the Rev. C.B. Turner officiating. The services will be directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home of Marion. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Mrs. Dozier's home of 2856 S. Hwy. 501, Rains.
