    1. Re: [SCMARION] Collins-Jolly-Brown genealogy..Colleen here..
    2. Hi Colleen, have you seen the "Jolly History" website or know about about it? It is _jollyhistory_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~flalachu/jollyhistory.htm) or _http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~flalachu/jollyhistory.htm_ (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~flalachu/jollyhistory.htm) Since one of the family members is listed as being buried in Mullins, SC, you probably connect to this family. While I don't know anything about the family members you spoke about, I do know that this Andrew Absolam Jolly moved from Marion District, SC at the same time my GGGrandfather, Labon Price did and I would not be surprised if they travelled together. They were neighbors in Marion District SC and had children in the same country schoolhouse at the same time. Then by 1860 they both appear in Florida. They lived not far from each other even though one lived in Alachua County and the other lived in Putnam Co., FL, as the crow flies it is only about 4 or 5 miles. I would imagine your Jolly line connects somehow to Andrew Absolam Jolly and his brother who's name I have forgotten (it may have been Joseph) but he is buried in a cemetery in Hawthorne, Putnam Co., FL and you may be able to find that gravestone online. I think he was born around 1818. Since these men seem to be a generation older that the ones you are looking for maybe they are a stepping stone to help out. Good luck! We recently had a family reunion last 6-15-08 at the Edisto Baptist Church, Bamberg, SC, out on Hwy 61, in Bamberg County.? While there I looked through an old bible belonging to Rashie Ham Jolly family, on the front page is listed these names. John David Jolly-b. 9/31/1876 or '74?, Joseph James Collins Jolly-b. 12/31/1839?; Hughy James Jolly-b. 12/31/1839?: George Washington Collins-b. 9/27/1888; Pelzer Elijah Jolly-b. 1892;? Rashe Ham Jolly-b. 1892.? I know this is far fetched for sure, but I was wondering if any of you might have any of these names in your family genealogy?? I have a death certificate for 'Hugh Jolly', b. 12/23/1841, d. 4/28/1927. his father is listed as Sill Jolly, (Sylvester Jolly), his mother is listed as, Betsie Lloyd, or Betsie Floyd, but I believe it is Lloyd. Burial was Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mullins, SC, and Cox Funeral Home buried him on April 29, 1927. Birth place of mother was listed as Horry County, SC.Hugh James Jolly was a Confederate Veteran he enlisted June 1861, Co. F, 26th SC Regt, transferred to Co. A. 1st SC Regt. CSA, at Goldsboro, N C in April of 1865.I'm not sure if this is the same 'Hughy James Jolly' listed in the bible or not but it could very well be him as he spent time in Bamberg County. 'Course the dates do not coincide, but back then that was something that happened on a regular basis!? If you might have any info I sure would like to share info with you.? I?have two email address:? cjolly1@aol.com and colleen_jolly@bellsouth.net Thanks so much, Colleen N Jolly Bamberg, SC 803-245-2893 Life Member of OGSGS-Orangeburg, SC Life member of Aiken-Barnwell Genealogical Society Member of Old Darlington, Hartsville, SC ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SCMARION-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message **************It's only a deal if it's where you want to go.
