MYRTLE BEACH | Mamie Collins Capps, 93, wife of the late Richard Clyde Capps Sr., passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Covenant Towers with her family beside her. Mrs. Capps was born February 18, 1916 in Mullins, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Wyatt and Ella Jessie Bryant Collins. Mrs. Capps was active in her community. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, a member of the Pilot's Club, past president of the Genevieve Chandler Book Club, and a charter member of the Eastern Star. She and her husband started Royal Cleaners in 1955 and the Royal Inn in 1967. Survivors include two sons, R. Clyde Capps Jr. and wife, Yvonne, and Harold Capps and wife, Patty, both of Myrtle Beach; six grandchildren, Stacy Howell, Richard C. (Coleen), Capps III, Gayle (Craig), Berkey, Christie (Chip) Hoffner, Hal (Michelle) Capps, and Jill (David) Coates; 13 great-grandchildren, Allyson Howell, Christian and Madison Capps, Lauren, Tyler, and Rachel Berkey, Thomas Currie, Ian Hoffner, Reed Truslow, Haley Katherine and Emily Capps, Taylor and Zachary Coates; and one brother, Bobby Collins and wife, By, of Columbia, S.C. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The famil y will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
