    2. MULLINS - James H. Estes Jr., 83, died Thursday, December 4, 2008, in McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Mr. Estes was born in Union County, a son of the late James H. Sr. and Rachael Horne Estes. He was predeceased by his wife, Toni Causey Estes and a sister, Rachael Gray. He was the owner of Southern Printing Company in Mullins for many years. He was a World War II Army veteran where he served as a member of the Signal Corps. Mr. Estes was a member of Mullins Baptist Church, a life member of Woodmen of the World, and a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He was very knowledgeable about the Civil War and was an avid collector of Civil War artifacts and other treasures. Survivors include two sons, James H. “Jimmy” Estes and his wife Lisa of Johnsonville and Fletcher William Estes of Mullins; two daughters, Cynthia “Cindy ” Phillips and her husband Charles and Maria Estes, all of Mullins; two stepdaughters, Janet Mincey and her husband Carlisle of Nichols and Marcella Osteen and her husband Kermit of Florida; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Mullins First Baptist Church at 2:00æp.m. Sunday, December 7, 2008, with Reverend Jim Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow in Mayers Cemetery in Mullins. Memorials may be made to Paws to the Rescue, 123 Dog and Cat Court, Mullins, SC 29574 or to the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, 420 N. Mincey Street, Nichols, SC 29581.
