    2. MARION | Billy Woodward Altman, 71, of W. Mullins St., died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at McLeod Hospice House following an illness. Mr. Altman was born in Horry County, South Carolina, a son of the late Garland and Pauline Woodward Altman. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War and served on the USS Yorktown during his navy tour. He was a member of The Sons of the Confederate Veterans Chapter No. 24. His Love for playing country music led him throughout the state of South Carolina. Mr. Altman is predeceased by his grandparents, Ben and Carrie Woodward; and infant brother, Samuel Altman. Surviving are his fiancee, Gwyn Anne Sawyer; two brothers, Bennie Altman and wife, Linda, of Myrtle Beach, and Garland Altman Jr. and wife, Lois, of Conway; one sister, Jeanette Edge of Conway, and his stepmother, Helen Altman of Conway; one nephew, Terry Altman of Myrtle Beach; two nieces, Tracy D'Lerma of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Mary Awalt of Myrtle Beach; and a special grandson, Seth Owens of Marion. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2008 in Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
