MULLINS — Mrs. Grace Stewart Smith, 87, widow of Nathaniel Elmore Smith, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at her residence after an illness. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, in Cedardale Cemetery, with the Rev. Holton Siegling officiating. The services will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born April 2, 1918, in Trenton, S.C., a daughter of the late Clifford C. and Flora Edwards Stewart. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and an artist. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and a member of the Marion County Arts Council. She was a member of Marion Presbyterian Church. Surviving Mrs. Smith are a daughter, Sally Smith Culler of Orangeburg; her grandchildren, Gigi Smith DeLong, Stewart Smith Culler, Jackie Ann Smith, Salli White Smith and John Hayne Culler, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Ryan Alexander DeLong, William Smith DeLong and Sidney Grace Divine; a sister, Eugenia Stewart Dillard of Greenville; a special family friend, Alfred Williams and dear friends, Lillie Ceo, Sallie Ceo, Constance Lewis, Lilly Howard and John Watson Tart. Mrs. Smith was predeceased by a son, Nat E. “Butch” Smith, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion County Museum, 101 Willcox Ave., Marion, SC 29571 or to the S.C. Tobacco Museum, 104 N.E. Front St., Mullins, SC 29574 or to the charity of one’s choice.
