MULLINS | J.C. Richardson, 72, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Mar. 29, 2006 at Marion County Medical Center. He was the son of the late Jessie C. and Gussie Capps Richardson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Richardson and one brother, J.M. Richardson. Mr. Richardson was hired as city administrator Oct. 13, 1995, he was previously code enforcement officer for Mullins. He considered it an honor and a privilege to be selected to represent the city of Mullins. His philosophy was to work with city council to accomplish their goals for Mullins, in order for businesses to increase in economic stability and support the quality of living for its residents. Mr. Richardson is survived by one son, Stewart ''Rusty'' Richardson and his wife, Susan, of Mullins; one daughter, Karen R. Griffin and her husband, Stuart, of Conway; one brother, N. Leighton Richardson and his wife, Mary Alice, of Kenly, N.C.; four sisters, Venia Brown of Johnsonville, Gladys Wallace and husband, Tommy, of Florence, Esther Sawyer of Marion, and Ruth R. Brady and her husband, William, of Marion; five grandchildren, Paul R. Brown, Rebecca E. and S. Russ Richardson, and Lee and Elle Griffin; and one great-grandchild, Sally R. Brown. Funeral services will be held Friday, Mar. 31, 2006 at 3 p.m. at Mullins First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens, Mullins.
