RAINS — E. Dalton Evans, husband of Lula Mae Powell Evans, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 in Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Evans was born in Lake City, a son of the late Luther and Sulie Yarborough Evans. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retired farmer and plumber. Mr. Evans was a member of Rains Free Will Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon of the Year. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two daughters, Dale(Duncan) Drew of Marion and Dean (Donnie) Misenheimer of Mullins; a son, Barry (Becky) Evans of Galivants Ferry; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters- in-law, Ruby Evans of Hamer and Margaret Sweat of West Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at the Chapel of Morris Funeral Home in Hemingway. Interment will follow in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery in Johnsonville. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
